What is a Corgi Lab Mix? (Overview)
Corgi Labs are a delightful mix between a Welsh Corgi and a Labrador Retriever.
These pups are alert, active, sweethearts who have strong hunting instincts. They are always bursting with energy and love to run, fetch and swim.
Once a Corgi Lab mix is in the water it will be hard to get them to come out!
This breed is kind, loving and will get along with pretty much anyone – they will even get along well with other pets.
Although their disproportionately large heads look a little goofy on their petite bodies, this hybrid is undeniably cute.

Corgi Lab Mix Appearance

Their appearance will depend on which parents’ genes they inherit more of.
Puppies from a litter of Corgi Labs will all look different – no puppy will look exactly alike.
One thing we do know is that a Corgi Lab mix is one of the most unique looking dogs around.
This goofy mix usually has the head of a Labrador with the short body of a Corgi – this does not make them any less cute though!
They tend to have striking hazel eyes and muscular bodies.
Their tails can either be long and strong like that of a Lab, or they can have a stubby tail like a Corgi.

Because these mixes have one short and one tall parent, their size can vary a lot.

The Corgi Lab mix has demanding exercise requirements but are otherwise easy to care for.
If you are dedicated to exercising your Corgi Lab for an extended period of time, they can live comfortably in an apartment. As long as they are given the proper amount of time to run around, they could adapt to apartment life.
They are easy to groom, do not require a special diet and are overall a fairly healthy dog.
However to get a puppy you need to be prepared to drop a significant amount of money because they often come with a hefty price tag (more on this later).
Exercise Requirements
Exercise is the most important part of taking care of a Corgi Lab mix.
These pups are extremely active and need lots of exercise.
Going for a long walk, hiking and playing fetch are all perfect activities to do with your Corgi Lab.
If you really want to make them happy, take it swimming – they love to swim more than anything.

This mix will need a diet high in proteins because they need lots of energy to do all the things they love. We also recommend supplementing your dog’s diet with fish oil to promote healthy joints that are less susceptible to dislocations.

Known Health Problems
The most common health problems this mix faces is their joints and bones. This breed often suffers from dislocated kneecaps.
Arthritis is also quite common amongst this breed.
They may also suffer from eye problems. These pups may develop cataracts or central progressive retinal atrophy (which may lead to blindness).
However do not be too concerned – overall this breed is fairly healthy. With frequent vet visits your Corgi Lab should live a healthy life.

The typical option is to feed your dog treats during training however as this mix is prone to obesity lay off the treats. Instead praise them with words and lots of petting (sometimes even a favorite toy will work).
The key to training these pups is to be in a quiet environment. Corgi Labs are always alert and will get easily distracted if you try to train them outside or in a room full of lots of people.
If possible every member of the family should help with training.
One behavior you will need to look out for with this pup is herding.
When they play with young children, they may try to herd them by nipping at their heels.
This is a behavior that can be combatted with proper socialization from a young age.
